The best Modern Warfare 4 Cronus Zen script right now is LuraFPS. All three others are one payment of $49.99 to $64.99, and two of them name Black Ops 7 rather than Modern Warfare 4. That matters this year: Activision rebuilt recoil and weapon handling for the new game, so a script's weapon values have to be set again on MW4's guns. How a script plays is what the three stages below look at.

Stage 1: recoil

Recoil control is the reason most players put a script on Call of Duty, and Modern Warfare 4 resets it. When Activision announced the game it said recoil, convergence and weapon handling had been rebuilt, and hipfire no longer blooms. Values carried over from Black Ops 7 will be wrong.

• Shape the whole spray. Most guns kick harder in the first shots than they climb for the rest of the magazine. In Expert mode you set a start value for that kick, a middle value and an end value for each direction, each with its own timing, so the pull follows your gun's recoil over the full spray. Of the Call of Duty scripts we have tested, none gives this much control over recoil; that is our judgment as the team that makes LuraFPS.
• Simpler modes. On gives a steady pull while you fire and is the place to start. Advanced adds a separate, stronger pull for the kick. Off turns it off.
• Setting it on MW4. Start at Vertical 20 to 35 for an assault rifle, fire a full magazine at a wall in a private match, and move Vertical by 5 until the spray holds in one spot. If it drifts sideways, correct Horizontal the other way.
• The spray test. In Advanced and Expert, arm the test and empty a magazine. LuraFPS saves how long that magazine lasts, so the kick and the timeline never run past the end of the spray.
• One profile per gun. Profile 1 for your main AR, profile 2 for an SMG, profile 3 for anything else. Firing from the hip uses 70% of your values.

Stage 2: aim

LuraFPS draws a small, continuous circle on the right stick while you aim, which keeps the game's own controller aim assist engaged. It does not see or track targets.

• Shapes and size. Circle, ellipse, oval, lemniscate, orbit or rose, with your own radius and speed. Start at a radius of 10 to 20 and a speed of 40 to 80; if the screen shakes, go lower or switch to the ellipse.
• Boost, hip and strafe. Extra radius and speed while you aim and fire, a separate circle from the hip, and a small side-to-side move on the left stick while you shoot.

Aim assist moves the same stick as the anti-recoil, so with both on the pull can feel stronger. Lower Vertical a little if it does.

Stage 3: movement and setup

• Movement. Slide cancel works in Modern Warfare 4: slide from a full sprint and it cancels after the delay you set, starting between 200 and 400 ms. YY runs on L3 while you are not aiming, snake on a double tap of Circle, drop shot on every new trigger pull, b-hop on a held Cross, and rapid fire from 1 to 12 shots a second for semi-automatic guns.
• Setup. Three profiles, quick toggles to switch features without opening the menu, and anti-drift for a worn stick. LuraFPS reads Call of Duty's default button layout, so set the controller to default before you play.

Before you play
