What an anti-recoil script does in Call of Duty, and what it cannot

An anti-recoil script pulls the stick against a weapon's kick by amounts you set, per gun or per profile. It cannot see the enemy or aim for you. How it works, what breaks it, and where the game's own rules come in.

Anti-recoil is the core of every Call of Duty script and the simplest idea on the Zen: while you fire, the script moves the stick the opposite way to the kick. The work is in getting the amounts right and keeping them right when the game changes. This is what the script does, what it cannot, and where the game's own rules come in.

What the script does

While fire is held The script
The weapon kicks up Pushes the right stick down by a stored amount
The weapon drifts sideways Pushes sideways by a stored amount
The pattern changes over the burst Changes the amount over time
You release Stops

The stick input is added to yours. The game sees one stick position. The Zen has no video input, so the script cannot see the target, the enemy or the gun in your hands.

Where the numbers come from

Value Depends on
Vertical pull Weapon, attachments, fire rate
Horizontal pull Weapon, attachments
Change over the burst Weapon
Your stick The pull is added to your own aim, so your sensitivity changes how strong it feels

Some scripts ship a table per weapon; others, like LuraFPS, let you set the pull yourself and save it per profile. Either way the numbers are data about the game, and a patch can move them.

What breaks it

Change Effect Fix
Weapon balance patch Values wrong Recheck the gun on a wall and adjust
New weapon No values for it Set a profile for it on a wall
Wrong profile selected Wrong pull Select the right one; the Zen shows which
Sensitivity changed in game Pull too strong or too weak Retune the pull
Wireless pad or a hub Stutter in the pull Wired, direct; wired or wireless

What LuraFPS adds beyond the pull

Feature What it is
Aim assist A small circle on the right stick, while aiming, from the hip and while strafing, that keeps the game's controller assist engaged
Anti-recoil modes A steady pull, a kick then a pull, or a timeline over the spray, with a spray test that stops it at the end of the magazine; saved per profile
Drop shot, YY, slide cancel, b-hop Fixed input sequences on one press
Rapid fire A held trigger sent as repeated presses on semi-automatic weapons

None of it sees the screen. All of it is input.

The game's own rules

Publishers set their own rules for third-party accessories and enforce them their own way. Activision's Ricochet team mentioned input devices, including the Cronus Zen, in a February 2026 update, and Respawn made a similar statement for Apex Legends in March 2026. That applies to every script on every device, not one in particular. Whether and where you use one is your call, at your own risk; our Terms cover it.

Setup that keeps the pull steady

Element Setting
Pad Wired: on A1 on Xbox; on A3 on PS5 with Zen LINK
Zen Direct into the console
Profile Matches the gun class in hand
Test On a wall in a private match after every patch

Script not working covers a script that has gone quiet after an update.

Questions

What does anti-recoil do on a Cronus Zen?
While you hold fire it pushes the right stick against the weapon's kick by stored amounts, so the aim point stays where you put it. It does not aim; it counters recoil.
Does the script know which gun I am holding?
No. You pick the profile or values for the gun you run. Pick the wrong one and it pulls the wrong amount. LuraFPS keeps three profiles, one per gun class if you like.
Why did anti-recoil stop working after an update?
A balance patch changed the weapon's recoil, so your values no longer match it. Recheck the gun on a wall and adjust the pull.
What is aim assist boost?
Small stick movement that keeps the game's controller aim assist engaged. It shapes the input the game already gives controllers; it adds nothing the game does not have.
Has Activision said anything about the Cronus Zen?
Yes. Its Ricochet team mentioned input devices including the Cronus Zen in a February 2026 update. Game publishers set their own rules for third-party accessories, and whether you use one is your call. Our Terms cover this.
